Chelsea Joy Handler, born on February 25, 1975, from Livingston New Jersey, is the youngest out of six kids. She was the youngest of six children that her family had. Handler was the child of a salesman and housewife. Her mother is German who came into her home in United States from Germany in 1958. In 1989, she was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away a decade following. Her father was Jewish as was her mother, and she brought up in Reform Judaism. Handler had a happy and healthy life growing up in a well-off area. When she was 19, Handler relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting profession. To make ends meet, Handler began to work as an actor. When she turned age 21, Handler decided to pursue stand-up comedy full time, after she recognized her storytelling skills. The beginning of her career Handler began her stand-up career by being a part of the Oxygen network's all-female cast in Hidden Camera/Practical Joke Reality television series Girls Behaving in a Bad Way. The show ran on air from 2002 to 2005. Handler then started appearing on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler started working for The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler gained her biggest break after 2006 when she began running her own talk show for E! It was called The Chelsea Handler Series. The show ran over two years. Following the show, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all aired her stand-up show. In 2010, it was announced that she would be hosting MTV's Video Music Awards in 2010. MTV Video Music Awards 2010. With this, she became the only woman to host VMA's after Roseanne Barr.
